The Consortium for AI & Remote Digital Interventions Against Cardiovascular disease in India (CARDIAC India) is a pioneering initiative aimed at leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence to transform cardiovascular healthcare. We are a collaboration of some of India’s and the world’s top medical, research, and technological institutions, working together to develop groundbreaking solutions to detect, manage, and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading global killers, claiming 17.9 million lives annually. Unhealthy habits like poor diet, inactivity, smoking, and excessive alcohol, along with environmental factors like air pollution, significantly increase CVD risk. These behaviors manifest as high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and obesity. Early screening for CVD risk factors, ideally starting at age 20, is crucial, especially for Indians who are predisposed to developing heart disease and diabetes earlier. Early detection enables timely interventions, improving treatment outcomes and potentially saving lives.
CARDIAC India is a consortium led by JIPMER and IIT-Bombay, focused on using Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize cardiovascular healthcare in India. By leveraging AI for early detection and management of cardiovascular diseases, the initiative aims to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and of high quality for millions. With academic, global, and industry partners like Google and HCL, CARDIAC India is committed to driving innovation in healthcare, aligned with the Government of India’s vision of “Make AI in India, Make AI Work for India.
